Always Engineering Sheltering in Place

In response to the global pandemic and President Trump urging all Americans to do their part in mitigating this crisis of health, along with other world leaders asking or requiring their citizens to also shelter in place, we are closing our doors for two weeks.

We appreciate the challenges all our clients have during this stressful time in our community and our nation. We ask your patience and understanding and to work with us to get back on track when this crisis has passed. Your project matters to us and we want to continue working with you to meet the goals you have for the future.

We hope that you, your family, and friends stay healthy and together we can overcome this unprecedented situation every person is experiencing at this moment.

Purple Wine + Spirits Make a Big Change

One of our clients is proposing to make major changes in their Graton facility, reducing truck traffic and limiting the amount of production, focusing on the crush process. We look forward to helping them with this project, which should have a positive impact on the local community.

Collaborations with Bevan & Associates

A recent project was completed for San Francisco residents to enjoy their country ranch property. We assisted Bevan & Associates to help bring the client’s second home project to a success. Beautiful views and welcoming site should be enjoyed for many seasons to come.

We are currently working on another project with BA to replace a lost home in Kenwood. A chance to renew a beloved family home and give the owners the opportunity to create new memories in the wake of the devastating 2017 fires.

Girard Winery, a new 200,000 gallon, 42,000 sf winery and tasting room has just been completed in Calistoga and the owners are making their first vintage on-site. Project construction began in May 2016 and occupancy was granted in September 2018.

Always Engineering began the project in 2013 by providing civil engineering services for the use permit which included four Planning Commission hearings and two Board of Supervisors hearings. Once granted the use permit approval in 2015, AE worked with the client’s wine-making management, and project design teams to provide civil sitework improvement plans, new entry driveway and encroachment permit, stormwater treatment management systems, new sanitary sewage septic system, upgrades to existing winery process wastewater and potable drinking water systems, site utility upgrades, as well as survey construction staking and design construction oversight, in addition to the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and permitting.

The site has been designed to incorporate self-retaining and bioinfiltration areas into the landscape for treatment and percolation of stormwater runoff.

Treated winery process wastewater provides the landscape irrigation therefore preserving well water for processing and potable uses.

To support the winery, AE worked with the project team to locate and design a truck dock, new water storage tank for fire protection and potable uses, a trash enclosure, covered pomace bin storage shed, and fire pump house building.

In order for the winery to operate efficiently, a large mechanical space was required to support equipment such as chillers, boiler, and air handling units. A pipe bridge was used to bring utilities into the building overhead, allowing for easy accessibility for future maintenance. A juice station provided for delivery and pick up of bulk wine and juice allows for streamlined access.
